“All too well!”
Hot Cider demo →
“The Storm” aired, so I think I can post this now, and if not, I look forward to the meaty cease-and-desist letter I’ll be getting from Viacom’s crack legal team.
About 15 minutes before I was supposed to show Carl my boards for the beginning of the episode, I was flipping through everything, and I decided the stuff I had done was all kind of boring. I thought “you know, maybe this might be a good opportunity for a ‘Singin’ In The Rain’-type moment, where Harvey sells the twins on living in a house via a musical number. Carl will never ever go for it, but screw it; I’ve got 15 minutes, I’ll give it a shot.”
I tried to think of something that symbolized the warmth of a home in a storm, zeroed in on “hot cider,” tossed that out, couldn’t come up with anything better, and went back to it. I went nuts trying to find quick rhymes for cider, packed ‘em all into a hastily-written song structure, and fifteen minutes later I was doing a very awkward a capella pitch to three silent producers. After a beat, Carl said “okay, sure, whatever. See if you can make it work.” After recovering from the shock of unexpected approval, I went off and recorded a demo, and it eventually wound its way through the weird intestines of production and ended up on TV!
This is also a great time to launch your petition for Nick to release a HB soundtrack, because if they do, I’ll get royalties, and then I can retire to a ranch in Montana or something, and that’s probably in everybody’s best interests.
This is such a cute song. Colin nailed it!
We love this!

The Harvey Beaks crew KILLED IT at their NAS gallery show.
So much good stuff, from Harvey-related paintings and plushies to crew portraits to mixed media to Johnny Cash (really). Here are some of the Harv-lights.
tmnt:
There’s a new TMNT comic series coming from @idwcomics and it’s going to be RAD.
This new series will tell stories focused on various supporting characters in the TMNT world. Characters named by series editor Bobby Curnow include Casey Jones, Fugitoid, Old Hob, April, Nobody, Harold, and Baxter Stockman, plus he teased we’ll get a couple brand new villains.
“Essentially, over the past four-plus years our TMNT world has grown too large to contain to one monthly title. There are dozens of fan-favorite characters. In short, we need a second title to do the ‘TMNT Universe’ justice,” Curnow said. “With two series we can flesh out these supporting characters more and devote greater time to the Turtles themselves and expanding their world. Our aim is to tell stories that are self-contained but complementary to the original ongoing TMNT title.”

Umm, yea…. so this is happening.
