Doodleodeon BONUS!
August 11th, 1991. The cartoon options on TV are forever changed when Nickelodeon launches Doug, Rugrats, and The Ren and Stimpy Show on this day 24 years ago.
Many don’t realize Nickelodeon existed prior to this date. The network has actually been around since 1979 and was battling for life throughout the 80s. It wasn’t until fresh ideas came into Nick via Fred Seibert and Alan Goodman that helped turn the tide.
Nickelodeon came out swinging with a fresh set of shows, a new logo, and a bold challenge stylistically to the cartoons common among the established Saturday morning cartoon niche.
Thanks for sticking it out and bringing the world 24 yrs of awesome cartoons and entertainment.
Cheers, Jeff
